This is an 18″ wide, 3 1/2″ deep guitar inspired by the classic Gretsch Synchromatic, but with some important differences. The back and top are both carved from solid wood. The Sitka spruce top was originally part of a raft used by an Alaskan logging company that disbanded over 30 years ago.
The guitar is constructed with carefully graduated parallel braces for strong punch and projection. The back and sides are master grade curly Red Maple. The 6-ply purflings are natural and black-dyed holly and the bindings throughout the guitar are made of curly maple.
This guitar has a very strong, balanced acoustic tone but truly excels as an electric instrument. The soundboard-mounted TV Jones Filtertron pickup produces an unsurpassed authentic vintage tone. The neck is 1 3/4″ wide at the nut and has a 25 1/2″ scale ebony fretboard. Watch this guitar in action in this YouTube video.
