John’s description:
“Usually, I use Honduras mahogany for my flat tops or my Cabaret classicals upon occasion but this time I thought, why not try a 16” archtop. It’s always fun to experiment a bit.
The mahogany body and 100 year old spruce top combination create an extremely pleasing tone, both warm and punchy at the same time with a distinct definition and increased volume. I used 3″ sides in the upper body which graduates to 3 1/2″ sides at the lower body to increase the bass response without sacrificing comfort.
The Macassar ebony appointments really add a nice depth of hue to the color palate but keep it simple enough to add a classic elegance to the overall look.”
